Peristomal skin health
ConvaTec 2007 ECET Congress Satellite Skin Symposium
Preventing and Managing Peristomal Skin Disorders.
Is It All About The Perfect Fit?
At a satellite symposium held in June, 2007 during the European Council of Enterostomal Therapists (ECET) meeting in Salzburg, Austria, several hundred specialist nurses gathered to discuss and share experiences related to managing peristomal skin disorders. It was determined that skin disorders are a growing concern for people living with and caring for an ostomy and that many people suffering with irritated skin do not seek help for their condition. It was agreed that the skin barrier is the first line of defense in maintaining good, healthy skin and that prevention is critical to patient comfort and success.
At this meeting, ConvaTec presented our answer to preventing and managing peristomal skin problems – ConvaTec Moldable Technology™ skin barriers. The following is a summary of information presented at the symposium.
