An ostomy product designed to help relieve abdominal discomfort after surgery

After ostomy surgery the abdomen may be sore or tender. The SUR-FIT Natura^® Low-Pressure Adaptor is designed to help reduce discomfort caused when attaching the ostomy pouch to the ostomy skin barrier. The Low-Pressure Adaptor provides the ample finger space necessary to attach the pouch away from the body and eliminates contacting or pressing down directly on the abdomen. The Low-Pressure Adaptor works with SUR-FIT Natura^® pouches and SUR-FIT Natura^® skin barriers including ConvaTec Moldable Technology^™ skin barriers.

SUR-FIT Natura^® Low-Pressure Adaptor Features:

1. Ample Finger Space for Patient Comfort

• Allows clinicians and patients to attach the pouch without pressing down directly on the abdomen
• Reduces pulling or lifting on the skin barrier in order to attach the pouch
• May provide ease-of-use when attaching the pouch to patients with dexterity issues

2. Works with ConvaTec Moldable Technology^™ skin barriers

• The Low-Pressure Adaptor is compatible with ConvaTec Moldable Technology™ skin barriers. This moldable skin barrier removes the step of having to create a pattern and cut the skin barrier to fit the stoma – a step which patients may find difficult and/or time consuming. Instead the skin barrier is rolled using your fingers – it is very easy to use (See Figure 1.)
• Allows clinicians to begin using ConvaTec Moldable Technology^™ skin barriers in the operating room and throughout the patient’s hospital stay while helping patients to feel less discomfort when attaching their ostomy pouch.

3. Disposable and Temporary

• Abdominal tenderness is a temporary condition. For this reason, ConvaTec created a temporary solution. Patients may choose to discontinue using the Low-Pressure Adaptor when abdominal tenderness subsides by simply eliminating the Low-Pressure Adaptor from the application routine.
• The Low-Pressure Adaptor is a disposable product. For optimal performance the Low-Pressure Adaptor should be changed with every skin barrier change.

4. Helping to transition patients from hospital to home

• Because this product is temporary and disposable, patients can eliminate it without having to learn any new steps or change products. This product helps to build confidence with new products and provides consistent patient education from hospital to home.
• Patients may have a discrete, low-profile (close to the body) ostomy system consisting of the skin barrier and pouch when they eliminate the Low-Pressure Adaptor. The lower profile system will be more discrete under clothing for ongoing lifestyle after ostomy surgery.

The SUR-FIT Natura^® Low-Pressure Adaptor comes in four different sizes. The sizes (flange/ring sizes) are listed here. The Low-Pressure Adaptor is part of the SUR-FIT Natura^® line of products and can be combined with SUR-FIT Natura^® pouches and skin barriers with the same flange (or ring) size.
