  • Ulcer

    Open sore on the skin or mucous membrane characterized by the disintegration of the tissue.

  • Ulcerative colitis

    An inflammatory bowel disease of the colon and rectum.

  • Umbilicus

    Navel.

  • Ureter

    The tube that carries urine from each kidney to the bladder.

  • Ureterostomy

    Formation of a permanent opening from the ureter(s) to the outside of the abdomen for external urine discharge.

  • Urinary diversions

    The same as urinary ostomy, it may be one of several types of operations performed because of the loss of bladder function or a congenital bladder disorder or malformation. In such operations, artificial openings are provided for urine drainage.
